‘I think, the older you get, and the more experienced you get. And the more you realise how big the world is, and how many opportunities are in front of you. Then the smaller the world becomes. It gets smaller and smaller, narrowing in on you until all that’s left are the confines on a wooden box.’ He coughed. ‘You could say what it’s a consequence of maturity, of finding your place on the world and accepting it, of discovering humility and in that humility discovering yourself.’
